Gut Healing

What does healing my gut have to do with my health?

The answer is, quite a lot. It’s estimated that there are 100 trillion bacteria living in your gut. They outnumber our own cells by a factor of 10 to 1.

Remember that the key to our program is to optimize hormone levels. The bacteria in our gut allow to break down and absorb the necessary nutrients to make those hormones. They also help with the elimination and therefore balance of hormones in our body.

Eating all the best food in the world won’t help us if the machine we’re putting it into doesn’t work appropriately. It would be the equivalent of putting high octane gas into a car that’s a beater. Make your body into a high-performance vehicle and then feed it the good stuff.

In future emails we will cover how having a properly functioning gut can help optimize our body composition. But for now know this, a properly functioning gut will help you:

  • increase leptin sensitivity, helping you feel fuller faster
  • increase your body’s ability to absorb more tryptophan, creating a better night’s sleep
  • greater absorption of vitamin D, which plays a vital role in balancing your blood sugar
  • clear cortisol out of your body more quickly, lowering your blood sugar from the initiation of a fight or flight response

A properly functioning gut is foundational to a well-balanced hormone system.

Take Away:

Be diligent with your gut healing protocol so that you can maximize your benefits from the real food you’ve started feeding your body.
